The Body Bakery Body & Hair Icing Review

The Body Bakery Haul!!
I had read good reviews about The Body Bakery's products, so recently I caved in to the nagging voice in my head to try them out and ended up purchasing quite a number of The Body Bakery's products. I bought them via Ryan from sgDrugstore.

The stuff that I bought was:
1. Body & Hair Icing (Peppermint Vanilla Latte)
2. Cupcake Conditioner (Sparkling Fruit Punch)
3. Bedtime Balm (Vanilla Pillowzzzz and Honey Kisseszzzz)
4. Lip Butter (Peppermint Vanilla Latte, Dark Chocolate Mint and Pinkiecharm)
They threw in a small tub of Whipped Cream sample in Caramel Apple.

The Body Bakery is a company offering yummy bakery scented products. Their tagline "Dessert Inspired... Skin Desired..." is really intriguing and so spot on because there is an extensive list of dessert and yummy bakery scented products to choose from.

First up, I am going to do a review on the Body & Hair Icing.

I am a really big fan of anything minty. I just love the scent and the tingly feeling of mints especially peppermint. I also adore the scent of sweet smelling vanilla. They smell so delicious! So for my first time trying out the Body & Hair Icing, naturally I'd pick the Peppermint Vanilla Latte scent which was described as invigorating peppermint with a splash of smooth vanilla. Yay! Both of my favourite scents together!

The 2-in-1 Body & Hair Icing is formulated to replace shower gel and shampoo all in one bottle. It is aloe-based and is pH balanced for the skin. It is also enriched with botanical extracts to leave the body and hair soft and heavenly scented. It is claimed to be suitable for all hair types.

The Body & Hair Icing comes in a tall and very clear plastic pet bottle weighing 8 fl. oz with a white cap at the top. The label is endearingly printed with cute choices of colours for the lettering of the product's name in the middle and The Body Bakery's logo at the top. The choice of scent is printed on a separate sticker label and is pasted at the bottom of the label. The scent label will smudge after some time due to water contact. The back of the label is printed with description of the product, usage directions and a long list of ingredients. The combination of white and green as the background is very simplistic and made the product looked nice and clean.

The ingredients listed on the bottle is: Water, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Lauramide Glucoside and Lauryl Glucoside, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Gel, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Tricitum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben and Propylparaben, Fragrance, May contain FD&C colour.

The cap is a press-down cap which also can be screwed open. There is a safety seal at the mouth of the cap to ensure that the product is not tampered with upon purchase.
 The safety seal still intact.

To pour the product out, the ledge at the top of the cap have to be pushed down to raise the small rectangular opening from inside of the cap. The cap is also a screw on which I found to be very convenient especially when I want to get the remaining liquid out of the bottle.

The texture of the Body & Hair Icing is very runny and is totally translucent. It gives me the impression of squeaky cleanliness and freshness. When I took a whiff from the opening of the unscrewed bottle, oh my god! I am totally in love! The smell of sweet peppermint fused with aromatic vanilla really cleared my senses and got me hooked. It is so calming and relaxing, I could smell it all day long!

It lathers up quite easily but the suds are quite thin. Lathering up the liquid kicks off the heavenly scent of peppermint vanilla. Used as a shampoo, it left my hair feeling squeaky clean and fresh. Since my hair is currently on a dry spell, the shampoo didn't really moisturize my hair but nothing that a good conditioner couldn't fix (hint hint: the Cupcake Conditioner). My only gripe is that the minty tingle is not as strong as I'd hoped for. The lovely scent lingers on my hair all day long making me feel chirpy.

Using the Body & Hair Icing as a body shower gel is also a blast and it left my skin feeling clean. It didn't leave a film of stickiness on my skin like some products do. The peppermint and vanilla scent is left on my skin and enveloped me in a wonderful minty and calming scent. Made me smell my hands every now and then! It didn't last as long on skin compared to on hair though.
Very translucent minty goodness in my hands. I just love the smell of it!

My verdict: Even though the shampoo is a bit drying, I just fell in love with the peppermint and vanilla smell to not give high praises for this product. The smell of peppermint goodness fused with sweet vanilla really does follow me around because I enjoy them so much. The scent is just too heavenly and I end up using it sparingly to prolong the lifespan of the bottle. Hehe.. The downside of it is that eh price is quite steep. If only they'd make a larger bottle but retaining the price. Would I repurchase? A 100% yes!
