Nature & Co Three Butters Lip Balm Review

I am addicted to lip balm and I just can't seem to stop trying loads of them. I would definitely will be swayed to try anything new especially those with great reviews. Sometimes I would just gamble and try out any lip treatment products that looked interesting to me without reading about it first on the net. Sometimes it's a miss, sometimes it's a hit.

So, when I was buying some toiletries at Watsons, I noticed that Nature & Co had some new additions to their line of products. I was looking at the products when lo and behold!, there was this cute little lip balm jar that kind of called to me. Hehe.. I didn't buy it immediately though, I went back and did some reading on the product first. The lip butter did get some good reviews so when I was at Watsons the next time, I did pick it up.

Nature & Co Three Butters Lip Balm.

The Nature & Co Three Butters Lip Balm is described to be a lip balm that will moisturize and plump up your lips. It is made with emollient ingredients such as safflower extract oil, olive extract oil, macadamia nut butter, cacao butter, shea butter, macadamia nut butter. It has a sweet herb scent that is supposed to make you feel happy.

The list of ingredients is printed on the back of the cardboard package: Diisostearyl Malate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Extrin Palmita Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, TE, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Fragrance (Parfum), Simethicone, Tocopherol, Phytosteryl Macadamiate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Iron Oxides (CI 77492).

The Nature & Co Three Butters Lip Balm comes in a thick see-through chocolate coloured plastic jar with a black plastic screw on lid. The label on top of the lid gives the product a vintage look with cursive printed font and illustrations of the emollient ingredients the balm is made of. The lip balm weighs .2 oz (5.8 g).

The bottom of the jar is pasted with a clear sticker label printed with what I presumed to be the product's description in Japanese.

The lip balm is white in colour and looked very shiny and impenetrable when I first laid my eyes on it. It looked very different from other lip balms in a jar which usually has a matte look.
A newly opened jar of lip balm.
A glossy and shiny surface of balm.

Even though the balm looked impenetrable, in truth, my finger just went through the surface without any resistance. It is just like a thick and sticky lip butter and I had no problem swiping with my finger and onto my lips. It goes on clear and a bit glossy. It glides on smoothly and there is no sticky or waxy feeling but my lips did feel like it has been applied with a heavy and thick lip cream. Because of the thick consistency, it took some time to be fully absorbed. My lips were dry when I used the balm and it really did helped moisturize them. The balm is tasteless and has a slightly sweet herbal scent that is bearable to my nose.

Here's how the texture of the lip balm looks like:

My verdict: I find that the balm is best suited to be used as an overnight treatment balm since the thick feeling may not sit well for day wear. I did find the balm to be a mesh of a treatment balm and a gloss because of the soft texture and the glossy effect it gives. I did notice a slight plumping effect when I left the balm overnight on my lips. This is a great treatment balm but I am not very sure I would repurchase again since I like to try new things.

You can find more information about Nature & Co at their website (but it is in Taiwanese language!)
You can purchase this lip balm at any Watsons stores for RM22.90.
