This iconic snack is a must when school is over and while waiting for the school bus to pick me up. Back then the name was Rocky and sometime in 2014 the name was changed to Pocky, to adapt the globalisation.
Each box is 40g and consists of biscuit sticks coated with dips. I got chocolate, almond, double choc, cookies & cream and cendol to try out.
1. The chocolate flavour tastes of chocolate (hehehe). However the chocolate ia a bit sweet. Will taste great with tea, green tea or other less sweet drinks to balance out the sweetness. I always have a packet of this to snack in my car in case I got stuck in a traffic jam.
2. The cookies & cream taste very mild. The colour of the biscuit stick is also a bit darker than the chocate flavoured. The taste is also not too sweet. I can smell the cream and there bits and pieces of biscuit all over the stick. This is not my favourite Pocky cause I love chocolate more π.
3. The almond one smells almondy and buttery. There are bits and pieces of almond all over the coating. It is not too sweet and the balances well with the biscuit stick. I liked it. However, if you have nuts allergy, please give this a pass.
4. The cendol is an exclusive edition for Malaysia. Cendol is an iced sweet dessert consisting of ice shaving, coconut milk, condensed milk, palm sugar syrup and green rice flour jelly. Hot weather makes it so delicious to eat, accompanied by a plate rojak eaten under a tree beside the road π.
This cendol pocky is an amazing find. The whiff of gula melaka and pandan smell greets me when i opened the packet. The green coating represents the green flour jelly in the cendol. It tastes like a combination of palm sugar and coconut milk. As amazing as it is, I still love the real cendol.
5. The double choc Pocky is a chocolate biscuit stick coated with a chocolate dip. The taste is good because the bland and a tiny bit bitter taste of the biscuit balances the sweet chocolate coating. One of my favourite Pocky π.
So, there you have it. Try out a Pocky today.
