Fudge Daily Mint Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I had always been interested to try out Fudge's product because their name sounds soooo tempting. Hey, if it's named after a dessert, it must smell great, right? So, when I walked pass Shins @ Mines Shopping Fair one day, I saw that they do carry Fudge line of products and they were on sale, I bought a pair of Fudge's Daily Mint and Shampoo to try out.

The Fudge Daily Mint Shampoo and Conditioner line is described as a daily detox for hair and scalp, plus, it is also a hydrating drink for thirsty hair + guarana for hair strength.

SHAMPOO
Cleanse away styling product and daily grime while invigorating the scalp with tingling menthol and peppermint extracts.

Directions: Apply to wet hair. massage hair and scalp with shampoo. rinse thoroughly.

Packaging: The shampoo comes in a round pet plastic bottle in opaque white with a see-through cap with orange disc-top. The bottle weighs 300 ml (10.1 fl. oz). The cap can be unscrewed for better access to the product inside. The label is funky and a bit grunge looking. The back of the bottle holds product information in several languages and a list of ingredients.

Texture: The shampoo has a silky texture. The consistency is not too thick and not too runny either. It does not lather up too much and rinses off easily. My hair felt a bit dry and tangled after rinsing. There is no tingle of mint on my scalp.

Smell: Out of the bottle, the shampoo smelled of heavenly peppermint. But when it is lathered up, the scent mellowed down and there is a hint of subtle muskiness.

CONDITIONER

The conditioner is describe to de-stress and detox hair daily. It soothes, moisturizes and calms tired 'stressed-out' hair with Peppermint and Menthol to bring hair back to life again.

Direction: Apply after shampooing. Massage through hair, concentrating on the ends. Rinse thoroughly.

Packaging: The shampoo comes in matching round pet plastic bottle in opaque white with a see-through cap with gray disc top. Weighs 300 ml (10.1 fl. oz.). The cap also can be unscrewed. The bottle has matching labels with the shampoo and the back of the bottle is also printed with the product info in several languages and list of ingredients.

Texture: The conditioner is very thick. Very! I had quite a tough time to get the product out of the bottle.  I literally had to shake the bottle real hard to get the conditioner move to the mouth of the bottle so it can be squeezed out. Seriously, the consistency is super duper thick. Despite of the thick texture,  the conditioner spreads easily over my hair and it gets absorbed into the hair very well. It cleared out the tangles and knots from the shampoo. It rinses off easily with water, leaving my hair feeling soft in the water. There is a very strong tingle of mint of my head after rinsing which I find kind of nice because it made me feel very fresh. As for the thick texture, I ended up diluting the conditioner after half the bottle is gone to make it pour out easier.

Smell: The conditioner has the same scent as the shampoo which is pepperminty and vanilla-ish when sniffed straight out of the bottle but in the shower it smelled a little bit less subtle with a lot of muskiness.

Verdict: I kind of have mixed feelings about this pair of shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo makes my hair a bit dry but the conditioner does conditions and makes them softer but not very moisturizing as I'd like them to be. The scent is also nice to be sniffed out of the bottle but it kind of smelled a little bit masculine and musky when I actually used them on my head. The tingle of mint from the conditioner is nice though. All in all, maybe the shampoo would suit those with normal or oily hair but not dry and damaged hair and scent wise, this is definitely a guy-scent. I don't think I would repurchase these again though.

NYX Soho Glam Collection Review

My sister and I are just venturing into the world of makeup which we gradually grew from using lip balms and gloss to lipstick and now we are jumping into the eyeshadow fiasco. This is a review on my sister's NYX Soho Glam Collection Palette that she bought during our crazy shopping spree end of last year.

Packaging: The Soho Glam Collection Palette comes in a big sleek black palette packaged in a black box.  It comes with 52 eye shadows, 4 face colours, 4 blushers, 2 lip glosses, 1 lip liner pencil and 8 lip colours. The whole palette weighs 129.9 g (4.58 oz). It is quite heavy and bulky. The black shiny plastic of the palette is kind of fingerprint prone. There is a see through window on the top lid of the palette showing three rows of eye shadows inside. There is also a mirror lined on top of the inner lid for on the go use (but I think it is too big to be an on the go palette).

The lid of the palette opens by pushing a button on the front side of the palette to reveal an array of eye shadows. There is a  large mirror lined on the inside of the top lid.

Texture:
Eyeshadow: The eye shadows are soft and a bit powdery in terms of texture. There is a bit of a fallout when applying them due to the soft texture. There's a mixture of shimmer, frosty, matte and satin colours to choose from and the colours are easy to blend. This palette offers a lot of shades in grays, browns, purples, a couple of blues and also greens. Some of the colours are pigmented and some are quite sheer.

Lip colour:
The lip colours have a soft texture and they are easy to pick up with a lip brush. The first and third pan has a slightly harder texture. Most of them goes on creamy but the first and third pan which goes on with fine shimmers. The colours range from being sheer to some being quite pigmented. Fortunately, there is no yucky taste or plasticky scent on the lippies which is great. They do, however, settle in between lip lines and cracks so application must be done evenly to get a nice finish.

Blusher:
The blushers have a soft and powdery texture. They are easy to pick up with a brush and blends very well. The colours applies very sheer does not make the cheeks look too red. I like the shades because the sheerness of the colours make the cheeks look naturally flushed.

Lip liner:
The lip liner has a smooth, creamy texture and does not bleed. It is not moisturizing and not drying either. What I like about it is that it is unscented and unflavoured. When applied the colour appears to be terracotta red.

Lip gloss:
The lip glosses comes in slender round glass tubes with a black plastic cap. There is a doe foot wand attached to the cap. One of the wand is defective with the sponge having a bald spot on one side. The lip glosses have a smooth and texture. It does not feel thick and gooey when applied but goes on very smoothly and not sticky. I like the fact that there is no scent nor taste in these but they just feel nice and creamy on the lips. The glosses are not too overly shiny with just the right amount of shimmer. They do not settle in between lip lines and cracks

Verdict: This is a very nicely put together palette and the price is very cheap considering the amount of product you get. The eye shadow colours are mostly purples, greys and browns with some greens and blues, so if those are your favourite eye colours, this is the perfect palette for you. It is a great buy for $30 (approximately RM96) but my sister bought it at RM99.17 after a 20% discount plus shipping and handling fee.

NYX Runway Collection 10 Eyeshadows Color Palette Review

My sister and I had an online shopping spree end of last year during the holiday season sales and we got a little carried away buying makeup stuff on sale. My sister bought a NYX Soho Glam Palette (will do swatches later) from Cherry Culture and I decided to try out their Runway Collection 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Romance and also Champagne & Caviar since I prefer natural and neutral colours.

Packaging: The Runway Collection 10 Color Eyeshadow Palettes come in a sleek plastic casing in black, packaged in sleek black boxes. The palettes are very sturdy and looks very chic. The top lid is stamped with NYX's logo and the name of the collection. The bottom of the palette is pasted with a label consisting the choice of palette colour and ingredients. The mirror on the inside of the top lid is very big which is very convenient to use. The palettes comes with a double ended sponge tips. The palette weighs 0.49 oz (14 g) each and they are cruelty free & hypoallergenic.

Texture: The eyeshadows from these palettes are soft and a bit powdery, easy to pick up with a brush and  easy to blend. They tend to be a bit crumbly as well because there's a bit of a fallout when applied due to the soft texture of the eyeshadows. Some of the colours are very pigmented but some comes off as very sheer.

Swatches:

Champagne & Caviar: The colours from the first row are very sheer and needed a lot of layering to get the colour to show on my skin. The second row is a little bit more pigmented. Some of the finishing is matte but most of them are satin and a bit shimmery.

1. Very sheer golden champagne. Slightly frosty finishing.

2. Light brown taupe. Satin finishing.

3. Nude beige. Satin finishing.

4. Light golden beige. Frosty finishing.

5. Warm light brown. Satin finishing.

6. White. Matte finishing.

7. Warm cinnamon brown. Satin finishing.

8. Dark chocolate brown. Matte finishing. Very pigmented.

9. Light pink. Frosty finishing.

10. Black. Matte finishing. Very pigmented.

Romance: Most of the colours in this palette are frosty and a few of them have chunky glitters. The top row consists of sheer shimmery hues and the bottom row are more pigmented frosty bronzes and copper-ish hues.

1. White. Frosty finishing. Has chunky glitter in it.

2. Light golden copper. Satin finishing.

3. Light pink. Satin finishing with a hint of frostiness. Has chunky glitter in it.

4. Dark brown. Satin finishing.

5. Light golden beige. Frosty finishing. Has chunky glitter in it.

7. Smoked topaz. Satin bordering to frosty finishing.

My verdict: The colours from the Champagne & Caviar palette are mostly sheer and very neutral whereas the Romance palette holds a more shimmery hues. In my opinion, the colour payoff is quite minimal on my pasty skin and had to be layered to get a hint of colour to show but I kind of liked them sheer since I prefer neutral and nude looks. I think the intensity of each colour would be better if it is worn over an eyeshadow primer. The eyeshadow do crease at the end of the day unfortunately especially on oily lids. I am on the fence about these eyeshadows. I am not sure when I'll be able to repurchase because right now I have quite a lot of palettes to finish off, but once I do, I just might repurchase them or I might not.
