The Body Bakery Lip Butter Review

I am on a The Body Bakery craze! As I mentioned in my earlier posts, The Body Bakery is a company that offers beauty products inspired with bakery and yummy dessert scents. How can I refuse sweet and yummy smelling stuff? This can be the downfall of my bank account!

During my last online splurge, I purchased three tubes of Lip Butter from The Body Bakery which is Peppermint Vanilla Latte, Dark Chocolate Mint and Pinkiecharm.

The Lip Butter comes in a standard .15 oz clear plastic tube with a twister at the bottom. The labeling is simple with the play of white and blue colour for the background. The company's logo is printed alongside with the lettering of "Lip Butter". The flavour for each balm is printed separately on a sticker label and is pasted underneath the white line of logo and lettering. Further down the label is printed with product information, description and list of ingredients in small font but is still readable. There is no safety seal on the cap.

The cap still intact and unopened but there's no safety seal.

The ingredients listed for the Lip Butter is: Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E), Flavour, Flavour Oil, Saccharin.
Ingredients listed on the label.

This is how the tubes of Lip Butter looked like opened:

As you can see, the Pinkiecharm Lip Butter has a washed-out red tint to the balm whereas the Peppermint Vanilla Latte and Dark Chocolate Mint is white in colour.

The cap of the balm pulls off fairly easily and twisting the twister to get the balm out is also uneventful. The balm slides in an out of the tube effortlessly without getting stuck at the mouth of the tube when going in.
Twisting the balm out of the tube.

The Lip Butter glides smoothly over my lips. The texture felt a little thick and buttery if compared to Crazy Rumor's lip balm. There is also no taste to the balm and the shine is very subtle. The Lip Butter does not leave any waxy feeling on my lips but it did leave a buttery feeling just like I had applied a film of butter on them. After it had melted in, my lips felt moisturized and soft. After a couple of hours, my lips felt like there's a film of drying butter left on my lips just like their Bedtime Balm. The lasting power for the Lip Butter is a couple of hours before the need for reapplying.

The Peppermint Vanilla Latte Lip Butter smelled more of sweet vanilla than peppermint. There was no tingly feeling when applied. I love vanilla too so the scent is all right by me. I was looking forward to this scent since I am a big fan of peppermint but was quite disappointed that the lip butter didn't have any minty tingle at all. It really is just vanilla.

The Dark Chocolate Mint really smelled like dark chocolate with just a little tiny hint of mint. It actually made me crave for chocolate mints! There was also no tingle of mint when applied. Since both lip butters didn't have any strong scent nor mintyness, I concluded that the mint factor is very minimal in these lip products.

The Pinkiecharm Lip Butter has a washed-out red tint to the balm and leaves a very subtle hint of pink on my lips when applied. I really like the very sheer and almost clear pink tint because it made my lips looked healthy and pinkish. It has a sweet and sour mixed berry scent which I didn't really like at first but the scent gradually grew on me.

Here's what the Lip Butter's swatch looks like:
The Peppermint Vanilla Latte and the Dark Chocolate Mint Lip Butter had the same swatch as the left one and the right one is the Pinkiecharm Lip Butter swatch.

My verdict: I find that The Body Bakery's Lip Butter is less moisturizing if compared to My Lip Stuff and Crazy Rumor's lip balms. Even though it has it's moisturizing moments, my lips tend to get dry when the Lip Butter had fully disappeared. I found a trick to keep my lips stay soft and supple after applying the lip butter by wiping the balm off before it gets the chance to dry on my lips. It worked very well and my lips stayed moisturized. Would I repurchase these again? Maybe after all of my lip balm stash hidden in my drawer had finished, just for the fun scents and the lovely sheer pink tint.

Where to get these Lip Butter? You can buy them online at The Body Bakery's website. The Pinkiecharm is under the Lip Frosting section.

p/s.: The only downside of it all is that even though the products from The Body Bakery is great especially the conditioner, their customer service is not very friendly and replied my one single inquiry very curtly. What a bummer.

The Body Bakery Bedtime Balm Review

Wearing lip balms before bedtime is a routine for most women all over the world. A good overnight lip balm will help keep lips soft and supple. Since The Body Bakery has a line of bedtime balms, I decide to add them to my balm collection and check them out during my last online shopping spree.

The Body Bakery's line of bedtime is claimed to be the first and only intensive nighttime lip balm that soothes our senses as well as our lips. The directions to use their bedtime balm is to apply the bedtime balm on lips and dab a small amount under the nose. The Bedtime Balm contains hydrating mango butter that heals lips as we sleep and the calming aromatherapy scents helps us relax and unwind.

There are five scents to choose from which are:
Buttermilk Dreamzzz: Warm Milk with a pat of melted Butter
Chamomile Comforterzzz: Soothing Lemon-Herb blend
Honey Kisseszzz: Rich, Golden Honey syrup
Lavender Lullabyzzz: Calming Lavender sprigs
Vanilla Pillowzzz: Smooth Vanilla and light Marshmallow

I chose to try the Vanilla Pillowzzz and the Honey Kisseszzz.

The Bedtime Balms comes in sliding tin weighing .25 oz. The tins are surprisingly small when compared to a standard tube of balm but holds a whopping .10 oz more balm.
Comparison of the bedtime balms' size and a standard tube of balm.

The label for the balms are very cute to me with the company's logo printed at the top, the lettering of Bedtime Balm in the middle and the scent choice underneath it. There's also a picture of stars and clouds/milky way. The colour of each balms are chose accordingly to their scents: yellowish orange for Honey Kisseszzz and creamish white for Vanilla Pillowzzz. The label at the back of the tin consists of the list of ingredients and directions on how to use the balm.
The matching coloured front label for each tins.
The back label holds ingredients list and directions to use the product.

The ingredients listed for the bedtime balm is: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcia (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Beeswax, Olea Europea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Flavour Oil, Saccharin.

As I said earlier, the Bedtime Balms comes in sliding tins weighing .25 oz each. To open the tin, you would have to slide the cover with a little pressure added upwards using your thumb.
Sliding the tin open.

At a glance, both the Bedtime Balms has the same whitish and matte look to it.
Opened balms and yet to be broken into.

To use the balm, you would have to dip your finger into the tin. Some may find using fingers is a little bit unhygienic so a lip brush would help. As for me, I just use a cotton swab. At first it was quite hard to get a decent film of balm out because the surface hasn't been broken into yet but after it had adjusted to my finger's temperature, it was easy to swipe the balm out and apply them to my lips.
Swiping the balm out with my finger.

The Honey Kisseszzz balm really smelled strongly like honey. It smelled quite overpowering and strong to me. This is the first honey scented product I've tried an I wasn't so sure about whether honey was supposed to smell like this or not.  At first, I really disliked the smell of it but later on it grew on me. So now I can use the balm without flinching at the scent as I apply the balm over my lips before bedtime.

The Vanilla Pilowzzz balm smelled like sweet vanilla. Since I love vanilla scented products, this is a hit with me. The scent is not as overpowering as the Honey Kisseszzz though. I found that this scent has a more soothing smell for a good night sleep but it all goes down to each person's preferences.

The texture of the balm is soft and a little bit like butter. The balm glides very smoothly over my lips but felt a little bit buttery. At first application, felt moisturized and soft. It goes on clear with a very subtle shine and is tasteless. Putting on too much would make your lips looked pasty and white (which I did when I wanted to have a deep moisturizing lip treatment before bedtime). The lasting power of the balm is quite long and lasted overnight. I woke up and delightfully found my lips very soft and supple. Very good for an overnight balm.

When used as a day balm, I applied only a thin film of balm over my lips. It took some time to melt into my lips and after a couple of hours I felt there's a thin film of drying butter left on my lips after eating something buttery. The only difference I felt is that the lasting power is not as great as when comparing to wearing it as a night balm before bedtime.  Maybe it's because I put a very thick layer for night treatment. After a couple of hours, I can feel that my lips had some dryness to them plus the drying butter feeling. The balm lasted a couple of hours during daytime before the need to reapply

Here's how the lip balm looked like on my fingers:

This is how the balm looked like when applied on my hands:
Very subtle shine.

My verdict: I really liked the balm when used as a nighttime treatment and the moisturizing effect it gave me the next morning when I woke up. I also love the fact that the scent did help me slip into slumber land a little bit faster with their soothing scent (or is it because I was sleepy?). I didn't really like the drying butter feeling the balm left on my lips though. I am actually on the fence whether to repurchase this balm again or not. I might repurchase the Vanilla Pillowzzz or maybe try the Lavender Lullabyzzz or Buttermilk Dreamzzz and just use them as night balms.

You can check out other Bedtime Balms scents at The Body Bakery's website.

The Body Bakery Cupcake Conditioner Review

During my last online shopping spree, I bought myself a couple of The Body Bakery products including their shampoo and hair conditioner. I actually had to battle with myself whilst choosing a scent for the conditioner because I really love mints and had already chosen the Body & Hair Icing in Peppermint Vanilla Latte scent but I was torn in wanting to try the Sparkling Fruit Punch scent due to a raving review I read somewhere (I don't remember where but I found it whilst reading reviews for other products). In the end, curiosity got the better of me and I chose to get the Sparkling Fruit Punch Cupcake Conditioner to pair with my Peppermint Vanilla Latte shampoo.

My pair of Body & Hair Icing and Cupcake Conditioner.

From the website, the cupcake conditioner is said to be made from luxurious botanical extracts combined with softening oils to create a superior conditioner for all hair types. Their deep-conditioning formula promises to hydrate and softens while leaving hair with an incredible shine. Oh, and it also doubles as a skin-softening shaving cream.

The Sparkling Fruit Punch Cupcake Conditioner.

The Cupcake Conditioner comes in a 12 fl. oz. clear plastic tub with a  pump on a white lid. The label holds the common trademark of The Body Bakery's product labels with the cute coloured lettering and the logo at the top. The scent is also printed on a separate sticker label and pasted on the right side of the front label. The back of the label holds information about the product, usage directions and list of ingredients.

Sparkling Fruit Punch!
Product info and list of ingredients.

Directions to use: For daily use, massage into hair and rinse within 3-5 minutes. Once a week, use as a hair mask by applying conditioner to damp hair and leave for 15-20 minutes.

The ingredients listed for the cupcake conditioner is: Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Glycerin, PVP, Hydrolyzed Protein, Stearalkonium Chloride, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle Root) Extract, Amica Cordifolia (Arnica) Extract, Betula Alba L. (Birch Sap) Extract, Cinchona Succirubra (Chinchona) Extract, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Fragrance.

The lid of the cupcake conditioner is quite interesting to me because there are three ways offered to get the conditioning paste out of the tub. The pump is relatively quite big and is placed in the middle of the white lid. From a bird's eye view, it kind of looked like a duck.

The neck of the pump can be opened when twisted counter-clockwise revealing a small opening.

The whole lid also can be opened by twisting it counter-clockwise. I really liked the fact that the big lid can be opened because it could be a hassle to get the remaining of the conditioner out through the pump when it nears finishing. Very clever and convenient.
Convenient way to scrape out the remaining gunk.

I had a tough time raising the pump from it's locked position even though I had twisted the pump head counter-clockwise hundreds of time. I even tried to hold the middle neck and twist the small separator on top of the middle neck. After struggling for some time and feeling frustrated, I resorted to sought the help of my husband. We succeeded unlocking the pump by holding the small separator (I suspected it is the locking device of the pump) with a pair of pliers and gave the separator a huge twist and voila! The pump raised ceremoniously up! Actually, all the aggravation of unlocking the pump head was for naught because I end up opening the whole lid off every time I use the conditioner because I find it to be more practical and convenient. I didn't want to get some of the conditioner stuck inside the pump's suction straw.
The pump head finally unlocked.

The description for the Sparkling Fruit Punch scent is: A fizzing blend of strawberry, apple, peach and lemon, but to my nose it smelled like yummy orange vanilla cake. I really didn't regret choosing this scent because it smells really yummy and sweet. I guess the fusion of all those yummy fruits' scent together produced this sweet and fruity smell that I just can't get out of my head.

The Cupcake Conditioner's is white in colour and has a nice subtle shine to it. The texture is soft and thick almost like a creamy body lotion.
Looks like body lotion doesn't it?

Spreading the conditioner over my hair is quite easy. It sank into my tresses as if my hair had soaked up all the moisturizing conditioner. When I first used the conditioner after shampooing, I felt that my hair wasn't really moisturized and I was so disappointed because I really liked the scent. The second time I used it, my hair turned out really soft and manageable. Surprise! Surprise! It was easy to comb through my hair without any knots and tangles. I guess the dryness from the first time use is due to transition from using my old shampoo and conditioner to The Body Bakery's shampoo and conditioner. The sweet fruity scent lingered for a very long time leaving my hair smelling nice and sweet for two days!

I didn't use the Cupcake Conditioner as a shaving cream though. I was too happy with the conditioner making my hair soft and smelling so sweet!

My verdict: Now it's official! I am deeply in love with The Body Bakery's Cupcake Conditioner! I really love the sweet fruity scent it left on my hair and the scent satisfyingly lasts for a long time. My whole bathroom smelled like yummy and sweet orange vanilla cake every time I used it! The conditioner also deeply moisturized my hair saving it from dryness and brittleness until it is time to shampoo and condition again.  The only downside is that the price is really steep and the product runs out fast (with my usage anyway). If only they'd lessen the price or increase the quantity of the tub, I would be the happiest person on the planet. Would I repurchase? Definitely yes! I am eyeing to try the Peppermint Vanilla Latte Cupcake Conditioner next!

The Body Bakery Body & Hair Icing Review

The Body Bakery Haul!!
I had read good reviews about The Body Bakery's products, so recently I caved in to the nagging voice in my head to try them out and ended up purchasing quite a number of The Body Bakery's products. I bought them via Ryan from sgDrugstore.

The stuff that I bought was:
1. Body & Hair Icing (Peppermint Vanilla Latte)
2. Cupcake Conditioner (Sparkling Fruit Punch)
3. Bedtime Balm (Vanilla Pillowzzzz and Honey Kisseszzzz)
4. Lip Butter (Peppermint Vanilla Latte, Dark Chocolate Mint and Pinkiecharm)
They threw in a small tub of Whipped Cream sample in Caramel Apple.

The Body Bakery is a company offering yummy bakery scented products. Their tagline "Dessert Inspired... Skin Desired..." is really intriguing and so spot on because there is an extensive list of dessert and yummy bakery scented products to choose from.

First up, I am going to do a review on the Body & Hair Icing.

I am a really big fan of anything minty. I just love the scent and the tingly feeling of mints especially peppermint. I also adore the scent of sweet smelling vanilla. They smell so delicious! So for my first time trying out the Body & Hair Icing, naturally I'd pick the Peppermint Vanilla Latte scent which was described as invigorating peppermint with a splash of smooth vanilla. Yay! Both of my favourite scents together!
The Body Bakery Body & Hair Icing with Aloe in Peppermint Vanilla Latte.

The 2-in-1 Body & Hair Icing is formulated to replace shower gel and shampoo all in one bottle. It is aloe-based and is pH balanced for the skin. It is also enriched with botanical extracts to leave the body and hair soft and heavenly scented. It is claimed to be suitable for all hair types.

The Body & Hair Icing comes in a tall and very clear plastic pet bottle weighing 8 fl. oz with a white cap at the top. The label is endearingly printed with cute choices of colours for the lettering of the product's name in the middle and The Body Bakery's logo at the top. The choice of scent is printed on a separate sticker label and is pasted at the bottom of the label. The scent label will smudge after some time due to water contact. The back of the label is printed with description of the product, usage directions and a long list of ingredients. The combination of white and green as the background is very simplistic and made the product looked nice and clean.
The scent label pasted at the bottom of the label.
The back label with product info, description and list of ingredients.

The ingredients listed on the bottle is: Water, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Lauramide Glucoside and Lauryl Glucoside, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Gel, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Tricitum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben and Propylparaben, Fragrance, May contain FD&C colour.

The cap is a press-down cap which also can be screwed open. There is a safety seal at the mouth of the cap to ensure that the product is not tampered with upon purchase.
 The safety seal still intact.

To pour the product out, the ledge at the top of the cap have to be pushed down to raise the small rectangular opening from inside of the cap. The cap is also a screw on which I found to be very convenient especially when I want to get the remaining liquid out of the bottle.
Pressing down the ledge of the cap.

The texture of the Body & Hair Icing is very runny and is totally translucent. It gives me the impression of squeaky cleanliness and freshness. When I took a whiff from the opening of the unscrewed bottle, oh my god! I am totally in love! The smell of sweet peppermint fused with aromatic vanilla really cleared my senses and got me hooked. It is so calming and relaxing, I could smell it all day long!

The lovely smelling runny liquid seen from the unscrewed bottle.

It lathers up quite easily but the suds are quite thin. Lathering up the liquid kicks off the heavenly scent of peppermint vanilla. Used as a shampoo, it left my hair feeling squeaky clean and fresh. Since my hair is currently on a dry spell, the shampoo didn't really moisturize my hair but nothing that a good conditioner couldn't fix (hint hint: the Cupcake Conditioner). My only gripe is that the minty tingle is not as strong as I'd hoped for. The lovely scent lingers on my hair all day long making me feel chirpy.

Using the Body & Hair Icing as a body shower gel is also a blast and it left my skin feeling clean. It didn't leave a film of stickiness on my skin like some products do. The peppermint and vanilla scent is left on my skin and enveloped me in a wonderful minty and calming scent. Made me smell my hands every now and then! It didn't last as long on skin compared to on hair though.
Very translucent minty goodness in my hands. I just love the smell of it!
The Peppermint Vanilla Latte Body & Hair Icing liquid all lathered up.

My verdict: Even though the shampoo is a bit drying, I just fell in love with the peppermint and vanilla smell to not give high praises for this product. The smell of peppermint goodness fused with sweet vanilla really does follow me around because I enjoy them so much. The scent is just too heavenly and I end up using it sparingly to prolong the lifespan of the bottle. Hehe.. The downside of it is that eh price is quite steep. If only they'd make a larger bottle but retaining the price. Would I repurchase? A 100% yes!
