Seeing people ate oden makes me curious to try some. I went to Aeon Jusco today and bought some to try out. They have a RM5 promo where you buy 4 pieces of the fish ball and fish cake combo, another piece will be given for free. Yayy!
The soup tasted a bit sourish and l can smell lemon grass. Basically like a tom yum soup base. The fish cake is nice and soft with cheese in the middle (what a nice suprise).
The fish ball is soft and bouncy. Easy to bite.
The extra piece I got was crab stick wrapped in tofu skin and there is a sliver of seaweed in the midlle of it. The tofu skin is a bit tough but the crab stick is okay.
Overall, i guess the taste is mild, maybe a score of 3 out of 5. I will have more to comment when i try out more odens from other shops.
